Key Events

  1. Crystal Palace’s FA Cup Final Appearances - Crystal Palace made it to the FA Cup final in 1990, facing Manchester United. Unfortunately, they lost after a replay. The club reached the finals again in 2016, but lost to Manchester United.

  2. Appointment of Steve Parish - In August 2010, Steve Parish, along with a group of local businessmen, purchased Crystal Palace FC from administration. This marked a significant turning point in the club’s financial status.

  3. Promotion to the Premier League 2013 - In the 2012-2013 season, Crystal Palace won a place in the English Premier League via the Championship Play-Offs under the management of Ian Holloway.

  4. The Appointment of Roy Hodgson As Manager - In September 2017, former England manager, Roy Hodgson was appointed as the club’s manager. Under Hodgson’s management, the club achieved stability in the Premier League.

Achievements

  1. Crystal Palace reaching the FA Cup Final in 2016, although they eventually lost to Manchester United after extra time.

  2. Promotion to the Premier League through the Championship Play-Offs in 2013. This was achieved by virtue of a 1-0 win over Watford in the final at Wembley Stadium.

  3. Maintaining their position in the English Premier League since promotion in 2013, marking one of the longest spells in the top flight in the club’s history.

  4. The team’s outstanding victory over Liverpool in the 2014-2015 Premier League season, which spoiled Steven Gerrard’s final game at Anfield. This match is often referred to as ‘Crystanbul’, in reference to Liverpool’s famous ‘Istanbul’ comeback against AC Milan in 2005.
